Karen's Review Of This Property:

For those who prefer the friendliness of a bed & breakfast over the formal atmosphere of a hotel, Quinta Torcasa is an excellent choice. The property, perched on the hillside above the lovely colonial town of Morelia, is adjacent to one of Mexico’s finest hotels, Villa Montaña. Opened in the spring of 2005, Quinta Torcasas is named for the tiny village where your gracious host, José Cacho Vega, was born. José is a passionate collector of antiques and handicrafts and sells an assortment of his eclectic treasures in a shop in front. Behind the shop, wooden doors open unto the gardens and a swimming pool highlighted by centuries-old stone arches. All the bedrooms have wood-burning fireplaces and are chock full of antiques. Three of the guestrooms are in a separate house complete with living room, dining room, and kitchen. These guestrooms can be individually rented, or the house can be rented in its entirety. A path leads upward to my favorite two guestrooms. One of these, “Inchatiro”, has a spacious bedroom with a cozy sitting area in front of the fireplace. My other favorite, “La Tiendita” (tiny shop), has a large living room with walls lined with antique shelving plus a separate modestly sized bedroom. The Quinta Torcasa’s greatest asset is José, who loves to share his profound knowledge of Michoacán and takes great delight in helping guests plan their sightseeing.
