Karen's Review Of This Property:
Mineral de Pozos, a once–booming silver and gold mining town, is located within an hour’s drive of such colonial jewels as San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, and Querétaro. In the early part of the 20th century the town was abandoned and lay dormant until recently rediscovered by an ever growing number of artisans and expatriates. A transplant from New Mexico, your charming hostess Susan Montana, fell in love with Pozos’ laid-back charm and bought property on the main square. All that was left standing of the original mansion was a splendid façade. This was enough for Susan who visualized a romantic boutique style hotel. Using highly skilled local workmen whom she oversaw with a passion for perfection, she created a romantic, colonial-style inn, blending so perfectly into its surroundings that it looks centuries old. Susan’s skills as an interior designer are obvious in the architectural details, the décor of the rooms, and the gorgeous gardens. The restaurant, “Gallery” is delightful and the food delicious. When weather is warm, meals are served outside on the patio. There are five guestrooms. Ask for one of the two suites: they are worth the splurge. Our favorite is suite number one, which has a four poster, queen-sized bed with a hand-carved headboard and a cozy sitting area in front of stone arched windows framing a delightful view. Horseback riding can also be arranged.
