El Encanto Inn is located in the heart of San José del Cabo, the most picturesque town in the Los Cabos area. Your hostess, Blanca Pedrin Torres, was born just a few doors away and is exceptionally familiar with the area—knowing the best places to go and what to see. In addition she lived in California for many years and speaks fluent English. The hotel had a simple beginning with a few modest rooms facing onto a narrow garden. In 2003 the hotel built a new addition across the street and evolved from its humble beginnings into a really classy small hotel. If you are looking for value, the original rooms are nice and still available, however for charm the new poolside suites (although more expensive) are what we would recommend. As you step into the entry hall, you immediately slip back in time with arched doorways, terra cotta floor, handsome antique tables, wrought iron chairs, an elaborate candelabrum, oil paintings, huge potted ferns, dramatic mirror and a massive chandelier. Just beyond the reception you come to a lush manicured garden. Here you find a palapa bar, a bougainvillea laced galleria, a pretty stone fountain and a lovely swimming pool. The new poolside suites, all of which are spacious and very attractively decorated, face the garden. An added bonus is an adorable little chapel—a perfect place for a wedding.
