Karen's Review Of This Property:
Many readers urged us to include the Londra Palace in our guide, and they were right—the Londra Palace is indeed a well-run privately-owned hotel. It enjoys a choice location, just a few minutes’ walk from Saint Mark’s Square, right on the busy waterfront, and boasts of 100 windows facing the lagoon. In addition, there is a small rooftop terrace, which captures an incredible panorama of magical Venice. The carpeted guestrooms are well-decorated, each with at least one authentic, 19th-century piece of Biedermeier furniture. In addition to antiques, each room has fine original paintings and sumptuous damask fabrics on walls and bedspreads, creating a classic Venetian ambiance of refinement. Five top floor bedrooms have mansard beamed ceilings and small terraces. The bathrooms too are special—all are tiled with pink Carrara marble. During the final phase of a multi-million dollar renovation, the hotel’s lobby, restaurant, bar, public areas, and white marble façade were brilliantly transformed. When the weather is balmy, there is no more romantic spot to dine than the excellent Do Leoni terrace restaurant facing the lagoon, named after the Tchaikovsky piece of which several movements were actually composed here at the hotel. The indoor alternative is within the taupe and cream appointed dining room within with spotted marble floors and identical vistas.
