Karen's Review Of This Property:
For many years the Locanda San Vigilio, tucked on a small peninsula on Lake Garda, has been featured in our guides. In 2002 the owners opened the Locanda San Verolo, a romantic small inn—once a farmhouse—nestled in the rolling hills of the tranquil countryside about a 15-minute drive away. Beyond the outer stone wall you find a courtyard where tables are set for open-air dining in balmy weather. The restaurant, reception area, and some of the guestrooms are in the largest of the ochre-colored houses facing the courtyard, while the other guestrooms are in three other buildings. My favorite accommodations are on the top floor of the main house because of the beautiful views. All the spacious, individually furnished guestrooms are decorated perfectly and are exceptionally appealing, with a simple elegance appropriate for a farmhouse. Gorgeous fabrics, fine antiques, original art, rich colors, hand-painted wooden headboards, fine linens, and splendid large bathrooms are featured in all. Obviously no expense was spared to make this a luxurious yet rustic hideaway. A path leads up a gentle slope to a large swimming pool terraced on the hillside with a beautiful view of the countryside and to the bell tower of a tiny church peeking out of the trees just below the hotel.
