Karen's Review Of This Property:
Giuliano Dall’Agnola, managed a hotel in Venice before deciding to open his own. This historic 5th-century building needed total renovation, but it’s location was perfect—tucked onto a tiny side street just steps from Piazza San Marco. Don’t be put off by the unimpressive gray exterior. The minuscule entry hall is quite simple and a staircase leads to the upper floors (no elevator). But here the surprise awaits: the carpeted rooms, decorated by Marcella, are inviting and offer great quality for such a well-priced hotel in the heart of Venice. All the walls are covered in fabric and enhanced by color-coordinated draperies and bedspreads, while Venetian-style furnishings including painted headboards and Murano glass chandeliers complete the appealing ambiance. The amenities are surprising for a budget hotel. The soundproof rooms are air-conditioned, have direct-dial phones, mini-bars, televisions, and modern bathrooms. Rooms on the top floor have beamed ceilings and balconies, some with views overlooking a small square. Alternative accommodation has been added in three additional bedrooms within the owner's home and an apartment between St. Mark's Square and Ponte Rialto. What makes this intimate hotel so special is the care of its owners who treat guests like visiting friends.
