Karen's Review Of This Property:
This attractive bed and breakfast in the wooded Berici hills just outside Vicenza's city limits is a lovely base for enjoying Veneto. The three-story stone hunting lodge dating back to the 15th century has eight very comfortable and tastefully decorated guestrooms. All have views and many amenities, and all are enhanced by the original stone, wood, and brick building materials. The Savoia family antiques are found in the cozy living room with large fireplace and in the breakfast room. Well-known by locals for its high-quality country cuisine using products from the farm, the attractive restaurant is found in the original barn with loft ceilings and enormous windows. Guests can choose to relax in the lush garden poolside or take various hiking trails, visiting prehistoric caves in the back woods. Besides vegetables, fruits, and cereals, the farm produces its own olive oil and D.O.C.-level Cabernet, Chardonnay, Barbarano, and Sauvignon wines. Aside from the famous Palladian villas, you can explore many interesting itineraries in Verona, Venice (by boat), Vicenza and its surrounding areas: the Barbarano wine area, Asolo, Basssano, and Marostica (with its annual human chess game).
