Karen's Review Of This Property:
This very special historic residence was once the summer villa of the Grand Duke of Tuscany, attracted to the bucolic countryside between Pisa and Lucca with its natural thermal waters. They are the same therapeutic waters enjoyed by Etruscans, Ancient Romans and nobility of Europe in later years up to today. Meticulous attention has been given to the restoration of this splendid palazzo, preserving high vaulted ceilings covered with frescoes, as presented in the main salon as well as in many of the sumptuous bedrooms and suites. Several rooms are bi-level with the loft bedroom elevated giving a closer look at the pastel-hued frescoes. Fine fabrics, linens, marble bathrooms and the latest amenities available are featured in all. Fine meals are served in the main dining room while aperitifs can be taken out on the terrace lined with potted lemon trees. A steep hillside backs the property with trails which take guests up to the terrace for views to the leaning tower. If this weren’t already enough to satisfy the most demanding of guests, the hotel has its own adjoining full-fledged spa, a luxurious haven offering a long list of treatments ranging from traditional to oriental. Summer packages can include treatments and tickets to the Puccini Opera Festival.
