Karen's Review Of This Property:
With a glorious, unobstructed view to the sea, the Hotel Belvedere can definitely lay claim to one of the prime positions in the picturesque town of Taormina. Of course this location is not just luck because, undoubtedly, the site was carefully chosen when the Belvedere (one of the first hotels in town) was constructed at the turn of the last century. The gentleman who originally built the hotel is the grandfather of the present owners—a continuity that adds greatly to the care and warmth of welcome given to the guests. From first glance, the hotel is immediately appealing—a pale ochre-colored villa laced with ivy and accented by wrought-iron balconies. Flowers abound on the walkways and a romantic garden terraces down below the hotel, providing quiet shady nooks for guests to enjoy the view. On one of the lower terraces, a large swimming pool is practically hidden by a lush blanket of shrubs, shade trees, and towering palms. This cool oasis is a favorite gathering spot for guests, and although there is no formal restaurant, light refreshments including pasta, sandwiches, and cold drinks are available by the pool. The lounges of the hotel are pleasantly decorated with contemporary furniture accented by some family antiques. The guestrooms are modern, with built-in beds. However, it is not the decor that captures the hearts of guests who return each year, but rather the friendliness of the staff, the gorgeous gardens, and superb setting.
