Karen's Review Of This Property:
While Monte San Vito’s official documents date back to 1177, recent evidence shows Neolithic origins. The Viadelcampo bed and breakfast is right on the road outside the town of Monte San Vito, a hilltop village which has brought traditional festivals back to life. Indeed 14 festivals are scheduled during the year. The deep salmon color of the house amid gardens and olive groves makes it unmistakable from the road. Silvia, a natural hostess and decorative painter, had the family farmhouse restored and all the walls became canvases for her trompe d’oeil and naive artwork. To give the simple house some personality, she designated a different bright color for each room and painted scenes in color schemes of green, yellow, pink and beige. Dècor is a mix of ethnic and country with patchwork bedspreads. The informal ambiance is ideal for one or two families traveling together as each pair of bedrooms share one bathroom. A country breakfast is served out under the pergola or at a long wood table in the living room. Silvia also has a passion for cooking and she organizes impromptu pasta or pizza lessons in the restored barn. Guests are surrounded by wine country, where fine Lacrima di Morro d’Alba red and Verdicchio whites are produced.
