Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Hotel Barocco is a full service refined hotel with a friendly and intimate ambiance. The location is excellent—although the address is shown as being on the busy Piazza Barberini with its famed Triton fountain, the entrance, marked by a row of potted shrubbery, is discreetly tucked around the corner. You enter into an intimate lobby where there is no frenzy of activity, just a reception counter tended by a gracious staff headed by cordial manager, Franco, happy to assist you whether it is with reservations for dinner or transportation to the airport. Beyond the reception area is a lounge which opens onto a small bar. The decor features a series of murals depicting scenes of Rome, below which the walls are covered with a rich cherry wood. The breakfast room, where a full buffet is served, has the same decor with scenes of Rome on the wall. The guestrooms on six floors have great city views or balconies (all similar in decor, but different in size) continue the same classic look, with travertine bathrooms, reproduction paintings, and an abundant use of cherry wood in the built-in headboards, wainscoting, desks, and bedside tables. Cream, wine red color themes, as well as deep-blue matching drapes and bedspreads, accent the wood trim giving a sophisticated, refreshing, almost nautical look. The rooms are a good size, but seem larger by the placement of enormous wall mirrors behind some beds. Several new suites, one with rooftop terrace, have been added.
