Il Bagattino Sketch

Karen's Review Of This Property:

The stunning ancient cities of Ferrara, Ravenna, and Mantova have recently become part of the more curious traveler’s itinerary and Il Bagattino could not be a more perfect base for exploring this triangle of Emilia-Romagna as well as making day trips to Bologna or Venice. Congenial hostess Alessandra left a ten-year restaurant business and opened her six-room bed and breakfast in the apartment next door to her own. Just off the main square of the historic center with its impressive fortress Castello Estense, Il Bagattino is on the second floor (with elevator) of a completely refurbished brick building dating to the 1400s. You are warmly greeted in the cheery yellow front room where a breakfast of fresh croissants and homemade cakes is served at one table. The six bedrooms are divided on both sides of the main room, with a small sitting room for extra privacy. Each comfortable, identically-sized bedroom, with air conditioning, television, mini-bar, and hairdryer, has its own color scheme reflected in matching bedspreads and curtains, and a new checked-tiled bathroom. The entire historic center of this fascinating ancient city is closed off to traffic and is a cyclist’s haven (bikes can be rented through Alessandra). Ferrara is a city not to be missed!
