The enchanting, cozy Romantik Hotel Zur Krone is owned by the Breitenbach family, whose genuine warmth of welcome and passion for perfection guarantee a wonderful stay. Laudenbach is a small town on the River Main with just a cluster of houses, several of which are nicely restored historic buildings—of these the Zur Krone is one of the finest. The 300-year-old inn is as pretty as a picture—a two-story, creamy-yellow building with a steeply pitched, mansard-style roof, and leaded windows enhanced by windowboxes full of red geraniums. As you enter, notice the intricately carved front door—this masterpiece was created by Karl Breitenbach’s father, whose carvings and woodwork are seen throughout the house. Inside, a cozy ambiance prevails. The dining room is especially romantic, with a low, beamed ceiling, white walls, fresh flowers on the tables, and a stunning antique ceramic stove. Herr Breitenbach is a talented chef who produces the most delicious food. In mild weather, meals are also served outside on the terrace surrounded by a meticulously tended garden. The bedrooms are all attractively furnished. If you want to splurge, room 16 is especially delightful: it has a spacious living room with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the charming garden.
