Karen's Review Of This Property:
Just inside Bavaria, this delightful island is the Bodensee’s (Lake Constance) most scenic resort, joined to the mainland by railway and road. The Hotel Lindauer Hof, sitting right on the harbor—a perfect location—began life in the 1600s as two granaries for storing oats awaiting transportation across the Bodensee. It is owned by the energetic Wimpissinger family and Ulrike is responsible for the smart, modern decor, which gives a welcoming feeling to the public rooms and a restful one to the bedrooms. Pale-lemon walls contrast with cool-gray terrazzo floors in the appealing ground-floor lounge and bar where little tables and chairs spill out onto the quayside. Up the broad staircase you come to the restaurant, which specializes in locally caught fish. If it’s a warm evening, dine on the terrace overlooking the harbor and distant shore. While all the bedrooms are most attractive, five special rooms command the highest tariff. Santis (room 207), decorated in jade green, has a lovely paneled pine ceiling with a large crest in the center and a separate sitting room with views to the lake. Rooms 401 to 404 have been added under the eaves, each with its own large terrace—perfect for sitting and watching the activity of the harbor below.
