Karen's Review Of This Property:
This character-filled 13th-century watchtower, with farmhouse and dovecote added in 1693, was converted for bed and breakfast accommodation and is run by Ian and Penelope Wanklyn, who hail from England. Aurifat enjoys an extraordinary setting on a slope just below Cordes-sur-Ciel, classified as one of France’s most beautiful villages, looking out to a sweeping view of the valley. Capturing the same view, set just below the home, is a very large, attractive swimming pool. All of the sweetly decorated guestrooms have their own entrance and flowered balcony or patio. Cordes has many restaurants, but for those who prefer to “eat in” there is a fully-equipped kitchen and a barbecue where guests may fix a meal. Next to the kitchen is a garden sitting room with an extensive library and internet access. For such reasonably priced accommodations, the amenities are outstanding. We were so pleased to have an opportunity to meet the Wanklyns—they are a very handsome couple and extremely charming. It is easy to understand why we have received so much praise of their genuine hospitality from many of our readers.
