Karen's Review Of This Property:
Châteauneuf en Auxois has been designated as one of France’s most beautiful villages and so we were thrilled to learn from Lisa of the Lady A (moored in the town below the village) that she works very closely with a charming bed and breakfast located in the village itself. While her husband works in Dijon, Annie runs Chez Bagatelle and is present to welcome guests. The four guestrooms, all with their own entrance, are named for a color of fabric used in the room: Blue, Maroon, Yellow, and Rose. Blue is simple and sweet with the color introduced in the beige-and-blue lampshades and drapes. Rose and Maroon are both two-story units with a sitting area on the first level and bath and bed on the landing above. Yellow is handsome with an old (non-working) fireplace and is popular as it has the luxury of its own private garden niche tucked just off its entrance. Guestrooms are very simple, with furnishings set on earthen-colored tiled floors, but are all spotless and enjoy little touches such as a single daffodil on the bathroom counter. All have their own bathroom with toilet and shower. Breakfast is served in a charming front room with wooden tables decked out with a pretty red-print fabric and fresh posies of flowers.
