Karen's Review Of This Property:
This lovely little hotel is a gem at the heart of the old quarter of Aix, on the south side of Cours Mirabeau. Under new ownership, the hotel has a little entry salon, stairway, and the 13 small but comfortable guestrooms are tastefully decorated with the warm flavor and style of Provence. Walls are painted in a wash of muted colors, fabrics are reminiscent of Pierre Deux, simple furnishings are attractive with their hand-painted motifs, and there are lovely accents such as handsome prints and a wonderful terra-cotta pot filled with dried flowers. An old stairwell with a skylight casting a wealth of light in the hotel winds up from the reception to the various floors—be forewarned that the hotel does not have an elevator. The top-floor rooms are worth the climb as they are set under the old beams which lend a bit more character. All guestrooms have en suite bathrooms and are air conditioned. These rooms are definitely intimate in size—if you have lots of luggage or prefer spacious accommodation, while the price is definitely tempting, this hotel might not fit your needs. Parking is always difficult in Aix. If you are fortunate enough to find a place on one of the side streets, grab it and then the hotel can direct you to one of the long-term parking areas nearby. Be sure to lock your car and remove all belongings.
