Karen's Review Of This Property:
A country lane delivers you to the doorstep of Les Aubépines, an old restored working farm nestled on lush acreage. This cozy and intimate timbered brick farmhouse has a fairy-tale appearance—windows are shuttered, dormers pop through the angles and pitches of the second-story roof, and the front façade is stacked high with firewood. When we arrived, Yves was mowing his vast lawn but was not too busy to give us a warm welcome and an offer of refreshing cider. We found Françoise inside and settled with her in front of the open fire in the main salon, a very inviting room with windows opening on to the surrounding greenery and heavy old beams hung with a mélange of pottery, copper pots, and fresh flowers. The Closson Mazes offer table d’hôte to guests on a pre-arranged basis, using regional as well as many homegrown products. An open stairwell climbs from the main room to a comfy loft sitting area and two guestrooms. Both are attractive: the pink room has a shower and the yellow room enjoys the privacy of its own back stair and has a private bath. At the other end of the hallway is a suite of rooms, which affords a family with private, comfortable living space. A swimming pool is also available to guests.
