Karen's Review Of This Property:
It is always a delight to happen on what I consider an undiscovered gem. The lovely framed entry of La Maison des Chanoines is off a narrow cobbled street that winds up to the crowning château of the beautiful village of Turenne. Madame and Monsieur Cheyroux, as a team, have poured their heart and creativity into the renovation of this very special 16th-century inn. Its gourmet restaurant is set behind a thick, stone archway and tables are intimately set under the arched stone walls and ceiling of the cellar. Fresh flowers, beautiful copper candlesticks, handsome ceramic jugs, and beautiful china accompany each course. The selection on the menu and wine list is excellent and based on local and regional specialties. With just 16 place settings in the restaurant, it is wise to book ahead. In lovely weather, additional tables are available outside on the terrace. The guestrooms are also limited in number, with some in the main building and others across the road. The original rooms are accessed off a small street that winds up behind the restaurant entrance. Guestrooms are a fabulous value, comfortable, simple, and quite charming. Thick-set windows are draped with attractive curtains, beds are comfortable, lighting is good, and bathrooms are spotless and modern.
