Karen's Review Of This Property:

Madame Gourlaouen’s property enjoys a tranquil location near the spectacular coastline and beaches of southern Brittany and the artist community of Pont Aven. This picturesque port town is the former home of many French impressionist painters, as well as Paul Gauguin. Madame Gourlaouen is a young, capable hostess who offers bed and breakfast as well as apartment accommodation in her pretty stone farmhouse. Dating from 1730, the long, low house is built from the golden-hued stones that are typical of the Concarneau, Pont Aven region. An independent entrance leads to the guest bedrooms, which are furnished with antique reproductions. Rooms are small but charming and all have private WC and shower—a great bargain for the money—and a salon is available for guests’ use and comfort. The intimate breakfast room is full of charm with a low, beamed ceiling, old stone hearth, country antiques, and fresh garden flowers.

This charming spot is a wonderful value for the money! Rooms were basic but very clean and comfortable. Mme. Gourlaouen's family has lived in the town for 400 years, and she was born in the home we stayed in - so she knows the area very well indeed. Typical of small-town France, English is limited, and so some basic French is useful. She is a delightful host at breakfast - which includes not only the usual croissant and baguette basics, but also Breton cake and cold crepes to be rolled with butter and preserves (yum!). It is only a 5 minute walk to some beautiful coastal scenery and walking paths, and so hikers and strollers will be especially pleased with this location. We would stay here again without reservation.
