Karen's Review Of This Property:

This lovely old merchant’s house in a quiet and peaceful French village has been lovingly restored by Annemarie and John Williams. Since every home on the street sports the name “Les Bordes,” name of the residential hamlet, look for the name La Chouette qui Chante or you might find yourself knocking on a private home. A handsome Yorkshire clock dominates the tiled entry and fresh flowers are found throughout the house. The family kitchen is just off the wide front hallway opposite the wide oak staircase that climbs to the two spacious guestrooms. Overlooking the front is the Armancon room with a king bed in a very modern décor of ivory and black with red accents whose private bathroom is accessed off the landing. The back bedroom, Serein, is traditionally decorated in cream and blue with antique furniture; has large windows framing views of the back garden, the village church and surrounding hillsides. Serein enjoys an ensuite bathroom. Downstairs, the public rooms are the lovely large dining room and living room with sofas and fireplace. Across the street, the Williams have renovated a lovely old barn to serve as two one-bedroom apartments with garden for long-term rentals.

Traveler Reviews:
(show / hide)

We again extensively used your guide as we travelled through France for a month. Chouette Qui Chante in La Motte Ternant was lovely. The owners (Williams) were wonderful, delivered fresh croissants every morning, unit was neat and clean in the "gite" in the barn, just wonderful. They invited us in for a drink but we could not make it that night so they instead delivered some little treat. A nice touch -- we are pretty independent in our travels and don't really need such wonderful attention - but nonetheless, very nice. Highly recommended as well.
