Karen's Review Of This Property:
The Romantik Hotel Almtalhof is a real charmer—especially appealing for guests who love a country ambiance without sacrificing any of the modern amenities. Herr Leithner oversees the efficient operation of the hotel, but it is his mother who is responsible for the appealing decor. Wreaths, copper, and etchings artistically decorate the entry walls and old sleds, painted cradles, baskets of flowers, wedding chests, and antique armoires accent the rooms. To add a final “homey” touch, Frau Leithner fills all the rooms with her lovely cross-stitching on door plaques, pillows, tablecloths and pictures. Not to be outdone, Herr Leithner handcrafts most of the furniture—what a talented pair! In the main house, number 11 is a handsome end apartment with twin beds, a living room and balcony overlooking the river. The bedrooms, all pretty, are larger in the newer wing. Room 4 is especially attractive with a beautiful large pine canopied bed, lovely paneled walls, and a small sitting room overlooking the garden. Meals are served either in the cozy wood-paneled dining room or else on the terrace by the river. Either place, the food is delicious—all the produce is fresh from the garden and breads warm from the oven. The Almtalhof is highly recommended: the genuine hospitality of the owners combined with a cozy ambiance, excellent food, and quality throughout make this a real winner. The hotel also has an indoor pool and wellness area with sauna, steambath and solarium.
